Executive Director, Marketing Strategy

Poonam brings with herself seventeen years of marketing and communications experience. In her current role, she is responsible for promoting The United Methodist Church and all the programs and services of United Methodist Communications to local churches. She has been with United Methodist Communications for ten years and has been instrumental in moving the agency from a traditional print-based agency to a multi-channel, digital-savvy organization that it is today. She has demonstrated thought leadership and creative thinking time and again, be it in launching the MyCom content marketing program that now provides approximately twenty thousand local churches with marketing and communications knowledge, pushing the agency to be an early adopter of social media, redefining the purpose and strategy for UMC.org, refocusing the seeker advertising campaign, or making the GivingTuesday campaign of Global Ministries a household name within the Church. She is an avid user of research data and believes therein lies many strategic answers if we just listen. Over the years, she has been recognized with many accolades for her strategic contributions, both from within the Church and from outside groups such as Gartner and Marketing Sherpa.

In her spare time, she enjoys painting and singing to Bollywood karaoke tracks.
